Workshop Application Form to obtain the EuPA support/signature

Past activities

One of the missions of EuPA Education Committee (EuPA-EC) is to promote, organize or support Proteomics Workshops in Europe focused on timely subjects.

Why EuPA-EC is going to promote workshops in proteomics?
The idea is that through workshops, EuPA aim to promote the matching among scientists from different European national proteomics organizations or with other countries to identify areas of commonality and explore the potential for international collaboration. Therefore, EuPA workshops will create good synergy that may lead to successful research projects and development of proteomics providing considerable added value to Europe science. The aim is also that by stimulating joint working inside European countries active in a particular proteomic area, to generate new ideas and concepts or to input to policy formulation in emerging proteomic biological areas that are essential to the formation of consortia for accessing of funding sources such as the EU Framework Programme.

Which are the benefits for having EuPA-EC support/signature to my Workshop?

The application for a EuPA workshop signature/support (see how to apply below) means to have a EuPA-EC peer review of proposals which is critically important to its successful since this certainly contributes to the quality and legitimating of the workshop value to the European scientific community.
The workshop with EuPA signature will be promoted and diffused trough all EuPA country members as well as to all European and non-European institutions and universities as possible.
EuPA-EC will not provide direct financial support for workshop activities. However, action plans to make this possible have been prepared.

Which will be the best Proteomics Workshop subject?
There isn’t a prescriptive list of subjects or objectives for EuPA Proteomics Workshops but a successful workshop proposal should take in consideration that:
• Subjects focused in outstanding proteomic technical approach or in a particular biological question to be answered by a combination of proteomic strategies benefiting from the collaboration between the participants, in terms of expertises and facilities, are welcome.
• Workshops tending to be targeted towards new technical or scientific proteomic areas and in which extensive international networks do not already exist will be strongly supported.

The proposal evaluation criteria will be:
1) the Scientific Quality of the Event (This means: Quality, originality of topics, Quality of content with regard to complementary skill, event relevance)
2) Quality of the Host(s) (Previous contributions to the proposed topic, quality and capabilities of the organizers; Quality of locations/infrastructures);
3) Management and Feasibility (Organizational management, description of responsibilities); feasibility and credibility of proposed plans; Publicity and dissemination including web-site/internet forum;
4) Added value and relevance to the objectives (i.e. the application of proteomics approaches to the improvement of heath, bring together a mix of basic scientists and clinicians of junior and senior levels; Composition of audience and identity of speakers, relevance of themes in relation to European achievements and interest...)

What EuPA-EC does expect from the workshops organizers?
• A feedback to EuPA-EC in the form of a report, including if it was the case, the agreed action plan for research collaboration, technical implementation, etc,
• An Attendee Satisfaction Survey that somehow evaluates the success of the event should also be provided.
• The possibility to disseminate among the attendees the activities promoted by EuPA-EC (ie. courses, lab training, workshops, etc) is expected.
